What really is Deep Tissue
Massage?
Deep tissue massage is generally more intense as a rule, and is
used in the treatment of long-lasting muscle tension. I will be
using reasonably slow strokes with the fingers and thumbs while
applying intense pressure, so as to reach the deeper layers of
the muscles. I will ask you from time to time during the massage,
if you feel that the pressure that I am applying is too heavy and
causing you too much discomfort.
What is the purpose behind a Deep Tissue
Massage?
The purpose is to loosen the knotted fibres of a muscle, at the
same time releasing the deep patterns of tension and releasing
toxins. This in turn relaxes and generally soothes the muscle,
achieving both a corrective and therapeutic result. Deep tissue
massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some
soreness during or right after the massage. However, you should
feel better than ever within a day or two.
What benefit would I get from a Deep
Tissue Massage?
If my assessment indicated that to be the appropriate treatment,
then I would perform a deep tissue massage. Why? because
deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins
from the muscles and get the blood and oxygen circulating
properly again to help your body recover. When muscles become
stressed from either over-exertion or injury, they block oxygen
and other essential nutrients, which in turn leads to
inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. Many
toxins will be released during the massage, so it's very
important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to
assist in the removal of these toxins from your body.
